Stay close to the problem
Context gets lost when too many layers sit between the people making decisions and the people doing the work.
Keji Labs started with a simple idea: build the kind of technology practice we would want to work with ourselves.
Senior people close to the work. Strong technical capability. Practical thinking. And enough curiosity to challenge the obvious answer when there is a better one.
Keji comes from 科技,kējì, the Chinese word for science and technology.
Labs reflects the way we like to work: explore, test, solve and build.
Together, Keji Labs represents what we want the company to become: a technology practice known for thoughtful people, strong capability and genuinely good work.
Keji Labs grew out of years spent working inside complex technology programmes and seeing both what works and what often does not.
Large programmes can accumulate layers quickly. Architecture becomes separated from delivery. Decisions move through too many people. Specialists become disconnected from the business problem. And sometimes complexity is accepted simply because that is how the programme has evolved.
We wanted to build something different.
A smaller, more focused practice where experienced people remain involved, where architecture and delivery stay connected, and where the priority is finding the right answer rather than creating more process around the problem.
Keji Labs was formed around that principle.
Keji Labs is not trying to recreate a large consulting organisation on a smaller scale.
The company is intentionally built around experienced people who can move comfortably between strategy, architecture and delivery.
That means the people helping shape a decision can remain close enough to see whether it actually works.
It also means Keji Labs can adapt around the organisation it is working with. Sometimes that means taking ownership of a difficult problem. Sometimes it means strengthening an existing team. And sometimes the most useful contribution is another experienced perspective at the right moment.
The model is flexible because enterprise technology rarely fits neatly into a predefined engagement model.
Technology consulting is ultimately a people business.
Good platforms matter. Good architecture matters. Good engineering matters.
But difficult programmes usually succeed because the right people are able to understand the problem, make sensible decisions and work effectively with everyone around them.
Keji Labs brings together experienced architects, consultants, engineers and specialists around the work that needs to be done.
We value people who can think beyond their own discipline, communicate clearly and understand that the technically impressive answer is not always the right answer.

Leadership
Founder & Principal Architect
Keji Labs was founded in 2020 by Vlad Brisan, bringing together more than two decades of international experience across enterprise technology, architecture and complex transformation programmes in Australia, Europe, Asia and the United States.
Vlad's career has spanned enterprise and solution architecture, business applications, cloud platforms, integration, data and AI. He has worked across complex organisations and multi entity environments, helping shape technology strategy, stabilise challenged programmes, simplify architecture and establish stronger governance and delivery standards.
His experience crosses both business and technology, from Finance, Supply Chain and Manufacturing through to cloud infrastructure, digital platforms, integration and data architecture. Much of his work has involved operating between senior business leadership, internal technology teams and external delivery partners, turning business priorities into technology decisions that can be implemented, supported and sustained.
That breadth of experience shaped much of the thinking behind Keji Labs.
The goal was not simply to create another consulting company. It was to build an environment where experienced people could stay close to difficult problems, take ownership of decisions and deliver work they were genuinely comfortable putting their name behind.
Context gets lost when too many layers sit between the people making decisions and the people doing the work.
Enterprise technology is complicated enough already. We do not add complexity unless there is a good reason for it.
Being useful sometimes means questioning an assumption, an architecture or even the direction of a programme.
A good solution has to work beyond a diagram, proposal or go-live date.
Keji Labs does not need to own every part of an engagement to add value.
We regularly work alongside internal teams, existing technology partners, specialist vendors and other consultancies.
The objective is not to create unnecessary boundaries around the work. It is to bring the right capability into the areas where it can make the biggest difference.
That collaborative model is an important part of how we want Keji Labs to grow.
Keji Labs is continuing to grow, but the ambition is not simply to become bigger.
We want to become better, not simply bigger.
Better capability. Better people. Better ways of solving difficult technology problems.
As the company grows, we want to keep the things that made the idea worthwhile in the first place: curiosity, senior involvement, technical depth, flexibility and a willingness to care about the quality of the outcome.
The name may come from a very simple idea: 科技, technology, and a lab in which to explore it, but that idea still describes pretty well what we are trying to build.
